Description
The Mu-so Qb 2nd generation is a compact wireless speaker designed by Naim Audio, part of the Mu-so range. It brings together a seven-driver audio architecture, including two passive drivers, in a reduced format, paired with a 24-bit / 384 kHz digital-to-analogue converter. The unit can operate on its own or be integrated into a multiroom setup.
Its structure combines MDF and brushed aluminium, with a circular touch control screen and an interface featuring 15 touch-sensitive buttons as well as an illuminated volume control fitted with a proximity sensor that activates the display when a hand approaches. Wireless connectivity covers Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, AirPlay 2, built-in Chromecast and Naim multiroom, with direct access to vTuner web radio, Tidal and Spotify Connect. The unit is also Roon Ready compatible. On the wired connectivity side, there is a mini-jack line input, an optical Toslink S/PDIF input (24-bit / 96 kHz maximum), a type A USB port for drives or discs, and an RJ-45 port. Supported audio formats include MP3, ALAC, AAC, FLAC, WMA, WAV, AIFF and Ogg Vorbis. A remote control is supplied to control volume, playback and track skipping.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking that the circular touchscreen and proximity sensor work properly, along with the responsiveness of the volume control and the touch-sensitive buttons on the interface. It is useful to test Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and the RJ-45 port, as well as recognition of a USB drive via the dedicated port. The presence and condition of the supplied remote control should also be checked, as should the condition of the brushed aluminium casing, which is prone to scratches and knocks.
