Description
The NSS 333 is a network streamer from Naim Audio, designed to receive and convert digital audio streams from streaming services, files stored on a network or USB devices. It integrates into an existing hi-fi system as a digital source, to be connected to an amplifier or preamplifier via its coaxial BNC output.
The unit features a 40-bit floating-point SHARC DSP dedicated to digital signal processing, combined with comprehensive network connectivity: 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth BLE v4.2. The list of supported services is extensive: Qobuz, TIDAL, Spotify Connect, Roon Ready, UPnP, as well as AirPlay 2 and Chromecast for streaming from a smartphone or tablet. In terms of formats, it plays WAV up to 32 bit/384 kHz, FLAC and AIFF up to 24 bit/384 kHz, as well as DSD64 and DSD128, covering both common compressed files and high-resolution lossless formats.
In terms of measurements, the NSS 333 offers a digital frequency response of 3 Hz to 27 kHz at -3dB, distortion of 0.002 % at 0dBFS and a digital signal-to-noise ratio of 108 dB, figures that reflect careful digital conversion and faithful reproduction of the source signal.

What to check before buying used
The front USB drawer and rear ports are worth testing under extended power, as these are the first points of contact to wear on a streamer handled daily. Also check that the Wi-Fi module and Bluetooth BLE connect without dropping out, as these network cards can sometimes age poorly. Flashing the latest Naim software version is recommended to ensure access to streaming services (Qobuz, TIDAL, Roon) remains functional, as some protocols evolve faster than older firmware.
