Naim Audio Uniti Core

The Uniti Core is a digital music server from Naim Audio, designed to centralise a CD collection and make it accessible across an entire networked audio system. The unit features a CD drive capable of automatically ripping discs, as well as a bay for an internal hard disk that can hold up to 8 TB of storage. Once files have been ripped and catalogued, the Uniti Core can send them to Uniti all-in-one players or to other Naim streaming products on the network.

CD copying and indexing happen automatically, and the unit supports several audio formats, including WAV, FLAC, DSD, ALAC, AIFF, AAC, WMV, OGG and MP3. In terms of connectivity, the Uniti Core has two type A USB ports, an RJ-45 Ethernet port for network integration, as well as a digital BNC audio output. The Ethernet connection is designed to allow UPnP players on the network or a connected DAC to operate without stream constraints.

Control is via the Naim app, which allows one or more Uniti products to be controlled at once, giving access to stored music, ripped CDs and playlists, as well as artist information. This same app manages both hard disk servers and Naim streaming products, avoiding the need to juggle multiple apps.

The Uniti Core is aimed at owners of large CD collections who want to digitise them once and for all and make them available across an entire Naim system, without having to physically play discs each time. It is particularly well suited to a multi-room system or an installation already built around Uniti products or other streaming devices from the brand.
