Description
The Studio 60 V5 is a floorstanding speaker belonging to the Reference range from the Canadian manufacturer Paradigm, known for designing and producing its own drivers rather than outsourcing them. This is a large-format model intended to equip a stereo or home cinema system in the main position, with a bass-reflex loading that reinforces bass extension.
The configuration adopted is known as 2.5-way: a 25 mm G-PAL dome tweeter cooled with ferrofluid handles the treble, a 14 cm S-PAL woofer-midrange driver covers the midrange, and two 14 cm polypropylene woofers support the latter at low frequencies. This division of work between several drivers makes it possible to achieve a high sound pressure level without excessively straining a single driver.

What to check before buying used
The surrounds of the two polypropylene woofers deserve careful inspection: hardened, cracked or stretched foam or rubber affects bass performance and can cause a rubbing noise at high volume. Also check the condition of the G-PAL tweeter dome, which is prone to dents from impact, as well as the cleanliness of the rear bass-reflex ports. An inspection of the cabinet is also required: corners, veneer and driver fixings must be free of play or moisture ingress.
