Pro-Ject XA-B

The XA-B is a belt-drive turntable from Pro-Ject, fitted with a solid acrylic plinth and a 10-inch aluminium tonearm. It comes supplied with a Pick it PRO Balanced cartridge already fitted and set up, an acrylic dust cover, a Connect it E Phono 5P to RCA phono cable and a Record Puck E designed to stabilise the record during playback.

The one-piece aluminium tonearm is built on an ultra-low-friction 4-point bearing construction, designed for precise and stable groove tracking. Its all-aluminium base allows azimuth and vertical tracking angle (VTA) to be adjusted, two settings that have a direct effect on a cartridge's sound reproduction. The Pick it PRO Balanced cartridge, developed with Ortofon, is an MM cartridge compatible with balanced signal transmission, a configuration that limits noise and interference picked up on the cabling. The die-cast aluminium platter, weighing 1.7 kg, incorporates a TPE ring designed to damp internal resonances. The whole unit rests on three damped, height-adjustable feet, a solution that makes it easier to level on uneven surfaces.

This turntable is aimed at vinyl enthusiasts wanting a set-up capable of making the most of balanced transmission, particularly when paired with a "True Balanced"-compatible phono preamplifier such as the Phono Box S3 B, Phono Box DS3 B or Tube Box DS3 B from the same brand. The acrylic plinth and fine tonearm adjustments are aimed at a user who pays close attention to setting up their system, rather than a plug-and-play installation.
