Description
The PSB Alpha T1 is a 2-way bass-reflex floorstanding speaker, designed for a stereo installation placed on the floor. It adopts a D'Appolito configuration, with the tweeter placed between two woofer-midrange drivers, an arrangement intended to make sound dispersion off the main listening axis more uniform.
The setup relies on two 13 cm woofer-midranges with a polypropylene cone and rubber suspension, paired with a 19 mm aluminium dome tweeter cooled with ferrofluid. The crossover frequency between the two ways is set at 3 kHz. The frequency response spans from 55 Hz to 21 kHz, with a sensitivity of 89 dB and an impedance of 8 Ω (minimum 6 Ω), values that allow it to be paired with moderate-power amplifiers, with recommended power ranging from 15 to 120 W.
This floorstanding speaker is intended for classic home use, as the main speaker of a stereo system or an entry to mid-range home cinema system. Its sensitivity and impedance make it compatible with common integrated amplifiers, without requiring oversized electronics.

What to check before buying used
The rubber suspensions on the 13 cm woofer-midranges generally remain more stable over time than foam surrounds, but a visual inspection is needed to rule out cracking or cone separation. Running your hands over the cabinet surfaces helps to spot any chipping or lifting of the dark cherry veneer, particularly visible on the edges and top of the cabinet. It is also worth checking that the bass-reflex port is not cracked and that the tweeter shows no dents in the aluminium dome.
