Description
The CA 1801 is a stereo RCA interconnect cable from Real Cable, designed to connect an audio source to an amplifier or a hi-fi system. It belongs to the range of so-called high-fidelity cables, designed to transmit the analogue signal with as little alteration as possible between the two devices it connects.
Its construction is based on a Bi-Metal conductor, combining copper and silver, whose strands are arranged in several sections according to the Time Difference Control (TDC) principle. This architecture aims to make the signal propagation time uniform across the whole spectrum, from bass to treble, resulting in better coherence of the reproduced sound image. The cable also benefits from triple shielding, intended to limit electromagnetic interference likely to disturb the signal.
The plugs are monoblock TwistLock type, with Gold-plated contacts, and are hand soldered with silver, an assembly process that ensures a well-finished electrical continuity at the connection points.

What to check before buying used
The TwistLock plugs should turn smoothly through to full locking: a stiff mechanism or a ring that slips indicates wear that compromises the gold-plated contact. Also check the condition of the silver solder joints at the connection points, which are particularly prone to corrosion and micro-cracks from repeated handling. The sheath and triple shielding must show no cuts or crushing along their entire length, as a defect here would negate the benefit of the TDC architecture.
