Description
The Real Cable Crystal 2 is an optical digital audio interconnect cable, in Toslink format, designed to transmit a digital signal between two devices equipped with an optical output or input, such as a player, a turntable, an amplifier or a television.
Its conductor is made of glass fibre in a Multi-Core configuration, an architecture that combines several fibre strands rather than a single strand. This design brings greater flexibility to the cord and better resistance to bending, a useful point when the cable needs to run through a cabinet or around other devices. The cable also benefits from triple protection.
The connectors are made of anodised metal and feature TwirlFix technology, which allows the connector to rotate 360° relative to the body of the cable. This freedom of rotation makes it easier to plug in when access to optical connectors is restricted, without straining the cable itself.

What to check before buying used
The sensitive point is at the optical connectors: check that the TwirlFix connectors rotate freely through 360° without excessive play or sticking, a sign of a worn mechanism. Also inspect the fibre ends inside the connectors, which can chip or become dirty after repeated plugging and unplugging, degrading signal transmission. Finally, examine the sheath along its full length for pronounced kinks or overly tight bends, which could have weakened the fibre strands despite the Multi-Core flexibility.
