Description
The Rega ELBT Advance is a drive belt designed to replace the original belt on a Rega turntable. It provides the link between the motor and the platter, a determining element for rotational consistency and therefore the quality of record playback.
This belt is moulded on custom-made tooling, using a material blend specific to Rega. After moulding, it undergoes cryogenic freezing followed by cylindrical grinding, intended to remove burrs and achieve a perfectly round cross-section. This cross-sectional consistency limits micro-variations in speed during platter rotation, a sensitive point for the stability of the sound produced. Rega also states a lifespan 50% longer than that of the previous belt model.
This belt is intended for owners of Rega turntables wishing to replace a worn or stretched belt, whether for preventive maintenance or restoration after observed wear. It is compatible with almost the entire Rega range, with the exception of the Planet model, covering both recent entry-level models and older models from the brand.

What to check before buying used
An old belt loses its elasticity and stretches, causing audible wow or a platter that struggles to start: it is worth checking for the absence of cracks or glazed areas on its surface. A sticky deposit on the motor pulley or on the platter also indicates a belt at the end of its life, which should be cleaned before fitting a new one. Compatibility must be confirmed model by model, as the cross-section and length vary depending on the Rega turntable concerned.
