Description
The CD11 MKII is a stereo CD player from Rotel, designed for playback of audio compact discs as well as CDs burned in MP3 format. It is built around a heavy steel chassis that houses a disc transport patented by the brand, dedicated exclusively to this purpose.
Digital-to-analogue conversion is handled by a Texas Instruments PCM5102A DAC, capable of processing streams up to 32 bit / 384 kHz, paired with digital low-pass filtering circuits specifically tuned for this unit. The overall system delivers a total harmonic distortion of 0.009% at 1 kHz, a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (±0.5 dB), a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 125 dB and a dynamic range greater than 99 dB. Channel separation exceeds 115 dB at 10 kHz, with a channel balance of ±0.5 dB.
The tray-loading mechanism and laser head are controlled by a motor controller designed to limit noise during playback. The front panel features direct controls and a display showing playback status as well as disc metadata, such as title and artist; a remote control is included for remote operation.
This player is aimed at users wishing to maintain or build a stereo hi-fi system around the CD format, with a dedicated source rather than a multi-function player. What to check before buying used
