Description
The DT-6000 is a device combining two functions: a tray-loading CD transport and a digital-to-analogue converter. It allows playback of CDs as well as external digital sources via its USB, optical and coaxial inputs, for connection to an amplifier or hi-fi system fitted with analogue inputs.
At the heart of the conversion is an 8-channel ESS Sabre ES9028Pro DAC, 4 of which are dedicated to each stereo output: this architecture is designed to reduce background noise and preserve signal detail. The PC-USB input accepts streams up to 32-bit/384 kHz, with support for MQA (24-bit/384 kHz) and DSD (4x), while the optical and coaxial inputs support up to 24-bit/192 kHz. The power supply relies on an in-house-manufactured toroidal transformer, with isolation techniques intended to limit residual noise and distortion. Analogue outputs are available in RCA (2.1 V / 10 ohms) and balanced XLR (4.3 V / 20 ohms), with a frequency response of 10 Hz to 70 kHz (+0, -3 dB).
This type of device is aimed at listeners with both a CD collection and modern digital sources (computer, network player, external DAC), who want a single, carefully designed conversion point ahead of amplification. The presence of balanced XLR outputs also suits installations where a balanced connection is preferred to limit interference over long cable runs.

What to check before buying used
The CD tray and its floating mechanism warrant a playback test across several discs, including near the end of a disc, to check for skipping or freezing. It is also worth checking each digital input individually (USB, optical, coaxial), as well as recognition of DSD and MQA streams if these formats are used. Listening through the RCA and XLR outputs will confirm that no channel shows noise or imbalance.
