Description
The Michi X5 S2 is a stereo integrated amplifier from Rotel, designed to drive a pair of speakers directly without going through a separate power amplifier. What to check before buying used
The motorised front-panel potentiometer may develop crackling noise or a channel imbalance at low volume, a sign of wear that should be checked when listening. Also check that the built-in phono stage and DAC are working correctly, along with all inputs and outputs, including the protection relays. The power supply capacitors, put under strain by this integrated amplifier's high power output, deserve particular attention on an older unit, as does the heatsink ventilation, which can reveal signs of heavy use.
