Description
The RMB-1504 is a 4-channel power amplifier operating in Class AB, designed to complement a preamplifier or audio-video processor in a home cinema installation or multi-room audio configuration. It has no preamplification function: its role is solely to provide the power required to drive several pairs of speakers.
It delivers 4 x 70W into 8 ohms, with total harmonic distortion below 0.03% between 20Hz and 20kHz, ensuring a signal with minimal alteration at the output. Its frequency response extends from 10Hz to 100kHz (±1dB) and its signal-to-noise ratio reaches 115dB (IHF 'A' weighted), which limits perceptible background noise even at high volume. The 26dB gain indicates an amplification level suited to use with an external preamplifier.

What to check before buying used
On a power amplifier of this type, it is advisable to check the proper functioning of the output transistors and the absence of hum or distortion at various volume levels on each of the 4 channels. The power supply capacitors, stressed by the toroidal transformer, deserve particular attention after several years of use, as does the condition of the screw-type speaker terminals and RCA connectors. Testing the 12V trigger connections and the signal-detection power-on control confirms that these installation functions operate correctly.
