Description
The RMB-1587 MKII is a 7-channel power amplifier designed by Rotel to equip multichannel systems, typically home cinema. What to check before buying used
On this type of power amplifier, test all seven channels one by one to detect a faulty input potentiometer or protection relay, which could cut off a channel after a few minutes of warming up. Also check for the absence of hum linked to the toroidal transformers or abnormal background noise, indicative of ageing capacitors. A check of the XLR and RCA connectors, sometimes oxidised or loosened after years of use, rounds off the inspection before purchase.
