The Wharfedale Dovedale is a three-way floorstanding speaker, a stand-mounted design that is rather rare in current production. What to check before buying used
Check the flexibility of the woven Kevlar woofer and midrange suspensions: a sagging or hardened surround indicates ageing that affects bass performance. Inspect the tweeter dome for any dents or tears, common on this type of exposed diaphragm. Also examine the cabinetry of both enclosures (veneer, corners, rear bass-reflex port) and listen to each driver separately to rule out any misaligned or crackling speaker.
