Description
The YBA Heritage A200 is a stereo integrated amplifier that completes the Heritage range, positioned as an evolution of the A100, with additional features and higher power output. It handles both amplification and digital-to-analogue conversion within a single chassis, for a simplified installation built around a single control source.
The chassis rests on three feet, two damped and a third in aluminium designed to dissipate vibrations, a construction found across the whole YBA range. The front panel is limited to two function buttons, one for source selection and the other for volume, with a central oval display showing the active source and the sound level. A remote control is supplied with the unit for remote operation.
On the connectivity side, the A200 offers 5 sets of RCA inputs, a balanced input, an optical input, a USB-C input and a Bluetooth input, in addition to a pre-out output that allows the amplifier to be paired with a separate power amplifier, active speakers or a subwoofer. The USB-C input supports PCM up to 384 kHz/32-bit as well as DSD256, and a quality USB cable is supplied with the unit. The Bluetooth connection, version 4.1 with CSR8675 chip, handles the aptX and aptX-HD codecs for wireless listening of better quality than standard Bluetooth.
The video input has a by-pass function, as on other YBA integrated amplifiers, allowing it to be integrated into a home cinema setup without interfering with the system's volume control. A switch on the rear panel also allows the digital section's power supply to be cut when listening to an analogue source, in order to limit potential interference on the signal.
This type of amplifier is suited to a user wanting a complete and versatile stereo system, capable of accommodating both a digital source via USB or Bluetooth and a traditional analogue source, with the possibility of evolving towards a bi-amplified configuration thanks to the pre-out output.
What to check before buying used
On the YBA A200, check that the two rotary controls on the front panel (source selection and volume) work properly, as their contacts can wear over time and cause crackling or level jumps. Systematically test each input, in particular the USB-C and Bluetooth, as well as the pre-out output. Also make sure the original remote control is present and functional, as a generic replacement is not guaranteed to control the unit correctly.
